The Barbera Femme is the counterpart to the Barbera HOMME and certainly the style lives up to its name. Aged nine months in small cooperage compared to the eighteen months the HOMME receives, the 2014 Barbera Femme is a much more fruit-driven and lighter styled wine. Showcasing a dark garnet hue, this vintage carries wild berries, fruit compote, and vanilla husk along the journey, moving into a palate lined with dried strawberry, rose petal, and spicy anise. A medium-light body with just a kiss of oak makes this a most enjoyable wine and certainly the more feminine version of our 2014 Barbera wines. A great representation of our unique terroir with seemingly very little cellar intervention. Enjoy with Cowgirl Creamery’s Red Hawk, a triple cream wash rind cow’s milk cheese or Tajarin Tartufo, a classic Piemontese dish of tagliatelle-like pasta with white truffles. Best from 2020-2026. Varietal Composition: 100% Barbera.
Our 2014 Barbera femme was awarded a Silver Medal at the 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, which is the largest competition of American wines, and in 2019, a Bronze Medal at the prestigious TEXSOM International Wine Awards.
