The 2014 Merlot displays a much more opaque color than the 2013 version, a very deep purple hue with pinkish tinges on the edges of the glass. Aromas fill the room and are very powerful exhibiting black cherry, barrel smoke, and ripe wild berries, leading to a fantastic palate including spicy and soft tannin, a rosemary-like earthiness with hints of mocha, and fresh blueberry. Certainly a gorgeous Merlot for a warmer 2014 vintage and definitely well balanced with a medium body and succinct but delightful finish. The primary food option that comes to mind is a Petit Filet Mignon Au Poivre. Drink now through 2024. Varietal Composition: 100% Merlot.
Our 2014 Merlot was awarded a Silver Medal at the 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, which is the largest competition of American wines. Wine Enthusiast gave this wine a score of 88.
