The 2016 Cabernet Franc is a true expression of how delicious Cabernet Franc grown in California can be. Lauded in places like Loire Valley, France for the earthy, herbaceous, and gamey notes this grape can possess, this particular vintage does not disappoint. Think of this wine as a Chinon rouge with a California flair. Showcasing a brownish-red color, one dive of the nose into the glass brings out a medley of white truffle, leafy aromas of oregano and thyme, as well as baking spices. On the palate, there is some tangy coconut, black currants and sweet wood flavors to go along with a well-integrated overall tannin profile. This medium-bodied wine coupled with high acidity is a mouth-waterer that yearns for some food to good along with. Some suggestions would be any tomato based dishes or vinegar based sauces. Try some German-style Schnitzel or perhaps some Roasted Wild Game Hens as well. Drink now through 2030. Varietal Composition: 100% Cabernet Franc.
