The 2017 Merlot showcases a visually awakening rusty-red color when first poured into the glass. Coupled with a nose that features beautiful violet notes along with some toasty cedar, leafy pyrazines, and allspice, you can tell just from the smell this is some seriously good stuff. Upon first taste, there is a dry, but supple and soft tannin structure driven by mocha, plum, and raspberry flavors. Leading into a medium bodied mid-palate with bright acidity, the finish on this vintage is not lacking, is very well-balanced and is not overdone. The 2017 is certainly one to drink now but could also age another 4-5 years in the cellar for optimum taste. A beautifully done and classic warm-weather Merlot, this definitely calls for food with unique and various flavors such as a Wagyu Skirt Steak with Chimichurri or perhaps even a Beef Stroganoff with Shiitake Mushrooms. Varietal Composition: 100% Merlot.
Our 2017 Merlot was awarded a Silver Medal at the 2020 Sunset International Wine Competition.
