The 2018 Merlot is surprisingly quite different from the 2017, yet very delicious. Boasting a deep maroon hue with rose-colored tinges on the edges of the glass, the nose is wonderfully powerful compared to the 2017. Wild berries, Morello cherries, Tahitian vanilla, and French oak exude into the air creating a desire to dive right into tasting the wine. First taste almost tricks you into thinking this is a Cabernet Sauvignon with masculine flavors of tobacco leaf, coffee, mushrooms and mint with damson plum leading the way. However, the finish brings you right back to believing it’s Merlot with pillow-soft tannins and ripe, tart fruit flavors. Absolutely a gorgeous Merlot for a warmer 2018 vintage and definitely one that is a crowd-pleaser. Having a medium-plus body, look to pair with bolder food options such as a Filet Mignon with a Red Peppercorn sauce or say a Pasta Bolognese with a Veal, Lamb, and Beef sauce. Drink now through 2026. Varietal Composition: 100% Merlot.
